                                       Ancient Mesopotamia civilization

The civilizations in Mesopotamia were formed on the banks of river Tigris and river Euphrates in what is currently referred to as Iraq and Kuwait. These early civilizations started to form around 12000 B.C.E during the Neolithic Revolution. The major Mesopotamia civilizations include the Sumerian, Babylonian and the Akkadian civilizations. In addition, there is evidence that indicates wide use of expertise, writing, religion, official codes, philosophy and structural design in these societies. The Mesopotamia evolution occurred along rivers approximately between 6000 to 8000 years back. There were agricultural practices between the Tigris and Euphrates rivers before the civilization of Mesopotamia (Taylor & Francis, 2017).  Despite the fact that agriculture gave allowances for denser populations along the more specialized societies, there is no doubt that the world’s earliest civilizations developed in these areas as well.

There are different cultures that were associated with Mesopotamia like the Sumerians, Assyrians, Babylonians, and the Akkadians. Understanding these cultures gets to be more confusing as the time civilization occurred in Mesopotamia; the cultures interacted and ruled over each other over a long period of time. These terms given to the Mesopotamia cultures are much associated with religions, city states, empires as well as languages depending on the time that that they took place.

  Sumerians

The Sumerian civilization took place in southern Mesopotamia during 4000B.C.E which made Sumer the first urban civilization in the region.  The Mesopotamians are believed to have developed the first written scripts around 3000B.C.E… These written scripts were wedge shaped marks put together into clay tablets.  The cuneiform were adapted by all the people to write their languages for around 2000 years.

Akkadian empire

The Akkadians were a group of Mesopotamia from the northern side. Their language is related to the modern languages of Hebrew and Arabic. These languages of the Akkadian are also referred to as Semitic languages (Kriwaczek& Paul 2014). The term Semitic originates from a biblical character called Shem, who was a son of Noah, who is believed to be from a Jewish community and the Arab people.

Assyrian Empire

The empire is named from its original capital, which is the ancient city of Asur in northern Mesopotamia. For more than 1400 years, the Akkadian who spoke the Assyrians languange were the foremost influence in Mesopotamia, especially in the north. There were major exceptions to Assyrian domination of the Babylonian Empire established by Hammurabi and also some more chaotic dark ages where there was no dominant power.

Babylon Empire

The empire was in the minor city of Babylon in innermost Mesopotamia for a whole century after it was formed in 1894 B.C.E… The ruler of Mesopotamia was called Hammurabi who established bureaucracy with taxation. Hammurabi helped free Babylon state from the foreign rule and later conquered the whole of southern Mesopotamia which brought stability and the name of Babylonia to the region (Wengrow& David 2014).  A compilation of code of laws named the code of Hammurabi was one of the most important works of the Babylon’s First Dynasty during the 1754 B.C.E… The Hammurabi code is one of the oldest writings of significant length in the world.

All the civilization of Mesopotamia is nowadays considered a product of social evolution. There were cities developed such as the Sumer city which arose from Mesopotamia civilization. Activities such as irrigations, population increase have by far contributed to development of business centers that now have grown into big cities in the Arabic countries.

It is wiser for everyone to realize that each human society is shaped by its own unique circumstances, and that general concepts do not always make a perfect sense. Unless every historian keeps all the limitations of civilization concepts in mind, civilization wont gain enough strength to become a successful tool for modern development
